Carisbrooke House - St James

Welcome to Carisbrooke, a spacious heritage home in St James, thoughtfully suited for workshops, retreats, and small group gatherings. Built circa 1870, this colonial-era home offers a sense of calm and history, paired with a light, modern feel. The wide pillared veranda opens onto uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean — a natural setting for reflection, connection, and inspiration. Whether you’re hosting a yoga session, wellness workshop, creative gathering, or intimate retreat, the space invites a slower pace and deeper presence. Morning light fills the veranda, making it an ideal place to begin the day with movement, meditation, or quiet contemplation, accompanied by the sound of the ocean and sweeping views across False Bay and the Hottentots Holland mountains.

The Space

Open, airy and filled with natural light, the home features high ceilings and generous living areas that can be adapted to suit your event. The layout allows for both shared group experiences and quieter breakout spaces. With five bedrooms, two newly renovated bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen, Carisbrooke can comfortably accommodate overnight retreats of up to 10 guests, or be used as a day venue for smaller gatherings.

Use of Space

The home can be configured depending on your needs — from full private use for larger retreats to more intimate setups for smaller groups. We’re happy to tailor the space to suit your specific workshop or wellness offering.
