House of Karuna is a private art and design residence set above the Atlantic in Clifton, Cape Town, where architecture, nature and wellbeing meet. Karuna means compassion, and the house has been shaped over many years as both a family home and a space for art, healing and meaningful connection. Open, light-filled interiors flow towards the garden, swimming pool and ocean beyond, with views stretching across the Atlantic towards Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and the surrounding nature reserve. Original art, carefully collected objects and warm, considered interiors give the house a deeply personal character. House of Karuna welcomes intimate retreats, workshops, yoga and movement, sound journeys, talks, ceremonies, creative gatherings and conscious community experiences. With multiple indoor and outdoor spaces, a large kitchen, terraces, garden, pool, intimate healing spaces and on-site accommodation, each gathering can be shaped according to its intention. Rather than a conventional event venue, House of Karuna is a living home — held with care and offered selectively to facilitators whose work is aligned with its spirit of art, healing and connection.
